No … hardly anyone except tourists visit the Great Salt Lake. It’s really shallow, the area around it can be swampy and muddy, and it tends to stink. There are a couple of passable beaches and a Marina, but nothing that would make you want to return again and again. I’ve only been twice and I can see it everyday when I walk out of work.

It's smelly and there are gnats. The water level is quite low so you have to walk over mud flats to get to the water unless you go some ways north of town. The lake used to be much higher. When I was here in the 50s, we just went to the water and floated. You can't sink because of the high salinity and it is fun to float - something every tourist or newcomer has to do at least once!
