But it always seemed to be empty, both customer-wise and restaurant-wise.

Never impressed by Kono or PF Changs - much better Asian in a short drive time.

The store restaurants - Nordstorms and Needless Markup are expensive.
Not many places I would there at La Cantera, all overpriced.

El Chris is open at Westover Hills in the location where Chunky's was, next to Rudy's. There's a great Groupon for them. Not sure if I can post the link, but you know what to do.

I went there a few weeks ago and thought the food was bland, maybe it was a bad time? They asked me how the food was and told them the truth the guy blew me off.

Default Fire Hut

It is too bad Fire Hut has shut down. I thought it was a decent restaurant. I wish the owners would either consider reopening again, or I would be happy to open for them, if they would sell me the rights to it.

Never had a chance to try Fire Hut, but Fire Bowl in the Quarry is very good and usually has a decent sized crowd, and Fire Wok in Huebner Oaks is pretty good too. So there are still options to get your Asian food fix! :-)

It appeared to have acquired too much competition offering the same type of food in its general area. Within the last 5 years, Pei Wei, Genghis Grill and another Mongolian BBQ place at the Redland Rd. exit opened within a mile of it. I've never been to the place on Redland, but the other two were superior to Fire Hut, IMO.
