I think I'm in the same crowd as SC. I also wore headphones for quite a bit of my time in the military, but left with better hearing than I had 20 years earlier when I entered.. I always protected my hearing, though, and would never turn the volume up just to hear something that was pretty garbled.

Anyone going to or been to Santa's Hill Country Village in Helotes? I have a 3 year old and we are thinking about taking her to this. Do they really charge $15 per person? Would my young daughter be charged $15 to enter? What are your opinions?

Just a question: How was the sound in that place? My recollection of eating there when it was whatever it was originally, was that sitting at the table, I couldn't hear myself think due to the loud sounds of every conversation in the place being some how carried directly to my table. I swear, the place sounded like being trapped in an elevator with 40 2nd graders who all had to pee.

Have they done something about that?
I ate there twice before the restaurant closed and I did notice the acoustics made the place very loud.

Try working 26 years in the AF in buildings with no/covered windows, in basements, or tunnels. Just call me a mole!
Well, I did work in the "Real AF" for 2 1/2 years in my one-assignment in Fuels back in 74-77.

Well, suffice it to say, everyone who is looking for a steak house at 1604 and Culebra has a background in the AF, windowless environments, and hearing issues.

hehe... my kids did mention the music (daughter was digging it, mix between country and danceable rock). Sometimes I could make it out, sometimes just hear/feel the thumps. FWIW, I'm only 20% hearing loss, not totally deaf

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I noticed a Wing Stop sign on the building in front of Lowes last night. IMO, that is overkill since there's a Wings to go at Bandera and a WS at Potranco! There's something next to that sign but I really didn't see what.

There is a new one going in at the Egg and I location off of 151 as well. For years we had to drive all the way to Bandera Rd to get them and all of a sudden they are EVERYWHERE. Guess they are doing well, altho I personally think that the size and quality is not what it use to be and the prices are a little to high for what they offer. We still get them, but not nearly as often as before.

For wings in SA, Hooters wins hands down...IMHO. I LOVED the buffalo shrimp at the Hooters when we lived in Hawaii, but not quite as good as I rmembered it being here local.

BEST wings I have ever had were at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo...the ORIGINAL Buffalo Wing location. They are MUNTANTLY huge and VERY good!!!
