Tried a Carl's Jr for the first time. The burger would have been an alternate source of oil reserves.

Just a fast food greasy mess.

They opened a Carl's Jr several years ago in NW Houston. There were long lines of cars to get in there or through the drive-thru for over a year. Weird. People came from far away for it.

I had a very bad experience after eating at a Carl's Jr in New Mexico over 10 years ago.
I'll spare you the details, but I couldn't run to the bathroom fast enough.
Over a decade after that incident I went back when they opened some locations here in San Antonio, to try the turkey burger; it was ok, but not enough to make me go back.

I'm not sure why they do so well.

I like eat at CJ lounge (Carl's Jr) every so often. Well, I like their grilled chicken club sandwich and fried zucchini. Never really eat their burgers or any "fast" food burgers. Well, Whataburger if I do.

Little Rhein Steakhouse. Good service, unusual setting, too pricey for regular visits but very good steak. The food was much better than you would find at a chain steakhouse.

I went to the new Flour Blooms Bakery (Floral Shop/Restaurant) in downtown Helotes today. I walked in and it smelled so good, the flower shop is in the front entry. I got there at 3:15, lunch ends at 3:00, but was able to get a slice of Quiche from the pastry display. Had a Carmel Cappaccino(sp) as well, and a few sample bites: a muffin, a bread, and an apple something. The food is homemade: soup, sandwiches, pastries, drinks. They are open 7 days, even though the antique and gift shops in town are closed on Mondays. I hope many of you will stop in and check them out.

I really hope this business "makes it", as downtown Helotes is not an "easy in-easy out" location for those going to or coming home from work.

Went to Shushihana last week. Stellar as usual. It has been well over 2 years since I went there, and we couldn't find a decent sushi place in Phoenix for a while. So I was ready to get my grub on.

We usually start with some seaweed salad and calamari while I sip on a large carafe of Fuji Apple sake. We've come to love the selection of rolls they have, so we usually get 3 of them and enjoy. You can't really go wrong with any of the rolls IMO.

A few of us went to Chicago's Pizza across from Churchill last night. Very quiet, and a nice little atmosphere. We were the only group there but several people came and went to pick pizza up. There's something about deep dish pizza that is just amazing. Their pizza is pretty good, not as gooey as Kennedy's (I like gooey pizza, like doughy pizza).
