Unless you're an avid sports fan, I would stay away from all pay TV packages unless you like paying a ton of money for sports that you don't watch. We've had both TW and DirecTV and found that the channel grid was increasingly chock full of infomercials and old movies--The Wedding Planner, anyone? Anything newish, like what you used to get on HBO years ago, was a PPV or on some premium channel that we didn't have. (Of course, HBO used to focus much more on movies than TV series, unlike today.) We truly enjoyed a good deal of the HBO programming, but it wasn't enough to justify almost $2000 annually.

Instead, go with TW just for the cable internet, get yourself a Roku box, and stream your TV. Netflix and Hulu are both very good at about $9/month each, and there are numerous free channels too. For instance, there's YouTube, which we should all know by now no longer just people filming their cats opening doorknobs and turning on faucets--entertaining and instructive though that may indeed be. There's a lot of produced content there now.

If you must have pay TV, you should go with TW, because at least that way you'll have a good deal on cable internet as well. Once you've had cable broadband internet you can't go back; DSL is like dial-up by comparison.
