This article is a good summary of what we find in Trump currently: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/22/op...-for-love.html

He wants to be liked. Desperately. So much so that he'll back away from many crazy ideas and say/do whatever he needs to do to get that attention that he craves. This could go either way, I guess...but if the population turns against his crazy ideas, he'll likely cave.

And you're right, he used to be a "democrat" - and still has many socialistic ideas. It's funny the Republican party is embracing him, in that regard - but I guess they think he'll just be their puppet.

See... things are looking up... only wish others shared your patience.

Going out on a tantrum and destroying public property is just insane... the man has not even been sworn in.

I've personally always thought this. One can (and should) voice their concerns for something without being destructive.

I couldn't agree more...

As a 5th generation Oakland resident it seems to always be a case of here we go again... with many arrested coming from outside the city.

Why be destructive in a city that never supported Trump from the get go?

Not only that - but violence and destruction is a sure way to discredit yourself from ever being taken seriously. I wish people would understand this.

Unfortunately, it's often a small anarchy-driven portion of "protests" that cause the worst problems.

But didn't you know that (according to the goal tending on here) that's an American tradition...?

At least when liberals don't get their way...

I suppose many grew weary of the double standard and political speak...

So many I know are all about choice and diversity...

I've learned choice isn't about real choice to be different and God help you if you have a diverse political view.

All the political rallies I have participated at the State Capital were loud and friendly... not a gum wrapper or scrap of paper left behind... so much so that Capital police even commented... no damage, no arrests and no trash.

The protests were over Smog Check II and vehicle measures affecting the classic car hobby...

Media called us peasants with pitchforks... so much for honest reporting... it was then I got a taste of media bias as I attended all the protest rallies and media accounts painted totally different pictures...

What do conservatives like to burn when they don't get their own way?

Their phone, fax and internet to connections to elected representatives?

It could be where I live but have never experienced a conservative riot... SF Bay Area.

I do think traditional media is losing as both President Obama with his Blackberry and President Elect Trump with Tweets and Youtube can easily bypass them...
