You betcha! Anyone who wants to join us for a wee celebration is welcome, too! We won't have any furniture yet, but the beer and the vodka will be cold.

Both closings are final -- can you believe it? There was a hitch when BofA, my mortgage broker for the new house, insisted, for no apparent reason, that my mail-away closing documents be post dated to May 15, even though I had to have them notarized on May 13 and overnight them down there. The notary at my local BofA branch understandably didn't want to do that.

I had a teensy-weensy meltdown in her office. She changed her mind. I feel a little bad about that, but I had just lost hold of that rope I'd been at the end of for the past three weeks.

ANYWAY my daughter graduates from Boston University this weekend, so we're staying here for that, then pack up my husband's trailer of equipment on Monday and hit the road Tuesday.

Hope to meet some of you some day!

[happy dance]

YAY! Congrats!!

Ruth

Curious to know if you made it down there yet. I'm following your thread because you're living my dream. Still up here in New England, but someday....

She's down here now. We just gave her the keys a few days ago. Probably out at the beach this weekend. Lol
I'm sure she'll see this and respond

LOL, wish I were at the beach … still unloading the Packrat pod and trying to find stuff. "I know I packed the [fill in the blank] but I can't remember what I packed it in. Did you look in that plastic tub in the garage?"

However, we are taking time out to host Cardiff by the Sea and her hubby today! They're living in an empty condo as of Saturday night, so we figured we might as well hang out together in our semi-empty house together!

So far we've been in the pool every day and are LOVING the weather. Still only in the low 70s in New England! The cats survived the trip and killed an anole on the very first night (I found the tail … wish I could have seen the reaction when the little guy escaped that time…).

The trip itself was a bummer -- it's just karma having its usual way with us. I was in my car with three cats, and hubby was driving his pickup truck with a U-Haul trailer. He and BIL spent the day before loading all of hubby's woodworking and tool sharpening equipment -- VERY large and heavy stuff.

We hadn't gone 50 miles when his truck died.

The good news? A truck towing and repair place was about 500 yards away from where he got to the truck to finally land, on an exit ramp in Pennyslvania.

The bad news … engine gone.

He spent the rest of the day unloading the trailer by himself and reloading everything into a U-Haul truck (I think U-Haul is going to make us pay for both …. ) while I went on ahead with the cats. He had to drive 15 hours the next day to catch up with me.

At least the mechanic found an engine, hubby will order it on Tuesday, it will take a week to fix, then somehow he has to go to PA to pick it up. Meanwhile, we're extremely cash poor after all of that … thank god for pasta!

See, you knew I couldn't get this adventure to end without one more teeny disaster …
