In Venice we have a little club near the airport, Honaluana's has good food and drinks. But what makes it special is the music. If you like 60's vintage rock, with a personalized twist you need to show up when Koko Ray is playing. Imagin Summertime done with a Tom Waits vocal. WipeOut with a hint of Tull, how about a little Pocol Harum straight up. People dancing in the aisles including the wait staff. From 18 to 80 were having fun.
Quality music with no cover, now who could ask for more.

You can find KoKo Rays at the Distillery and Banana Factory in Brandenton.
The Cabana Inn in Sarasota and Gatorz in Port Charlotte.

To listen to KoKo Rays music online and see when they are playing where check out their web Koko Ray and the Soul Providers

Love to hear where you go and about your favorite band.

What instrument do you play?

Yeah maybe a bit of an advert, but only because I'm impressed by the talent in the band. No financial interest. So many local band are so so, but Koko Ray is good.

I've played keyboards for about 30 yrs.

(computer keyboard that is)

"impressed by the talent" LOL - O.K. What's her name? [[[don't really give me her name]]]

Staying on the subject - Many people here may be looking for a local place with a good band with "talent."

Big House - Thanks for the laugh...
We have a local character, a guy around 80, he loves to dance. He's always surrounded by women. Initially I know newbies assume he's surrounded by "talent" but in truth girls just like to have fun.

So do 80 year old guys!
Good bars, good food, nice people, with good music or other activities like sports or other common interests can build a strong sence of community - Oh look - its Miller Time! Time to go home and see my "talented" wife!

FLBob,

Their music sounded great. We're going to try to see one of their shows when we're there in the next couple of weeks. I'll just listen cause the wife says my dancing days are over!LOL

Hope you enjoy them. Ray will sometimes play two saxs at the same time, so even if your not dancing you'll be amused. If memory serves your looking at the Punta Gorda area so Gators or the Slipnot will be the local restaurants where they play in that area.
