It seems that after every big series the attendance drops off a lot immediately afterwards - so not surprised that the Twins series had a lot of open seats. The Twins are a good team to go to see - I try to hit at least one game for every series to see the opponent's squad, even if they're not very good.

I agree that the Trop is okay - but if you project in the next 5-10 years, it'll be antiquated. So the time is now to talk about building a new one. Another thing to think about is whether big name players would want to come to play for Tampa in the current venue. You have to think a nicer stadium (and player facilities) will be a draw like it was for the Bucs when they moved into their state of the art practice facility and RJS.

This is proof positive about our problem at Rays games. Yankee fan celebrating a walk-off HR by a Rays' player last night. We have a hard time getting legitimate allegiance from people in our area. In fact, I asked the two people sitting next to me last night who they were pulling for...and they said, "both teams"....BTW, the guy with his fists in the air (white hat/gray shirt) is me. My voice is still hoarse from the smack talking to Yankee fans.

Watching the game on the HDTV.

I did go to today's game won by the Rays. Two HRs by Dan Johnson.

Rays win the series and are in first place again.

Rays' salary $60-70 mil. Yankees' salary $200 mil.

So far, who has the best return on investment?

Who could ever follow a team that is bought and paid for by going out and buying every single position player needed?

The Yankees have ruined baseball by doing this.

Then they go out and buy Lance Berkman because they need another hitter only to get their butts kicked by the Rays who have built a team around what you are suppose to build it around.

Guess not everyone follows those who want to BUY their championship instead of earning it like the Rays are trying to do.

With this Yankee lineup and the players on the bench they should be 162-0 for the season. What are they doing so wrong that they cannot win every game with stars all over the field and in the dugout?

Gee, and I wonder why we struggle to put fans in seats during midweek games. kbkr only comes out when the skankees are in town. Ugh.

And he meant return on investment in wins on the field. 200 mil payroll vs 60 mil payroll...that 200 mil has bought you a second place team. Congrats on being the most valuable team though...I hear they give out trophies for that...right?

I was there too and saw yankee fans silenced.

Glad you and a few thousand other yankee fans left disappointed with your tail between your legs. You weren't the guy who left in the 9th inning before the final out so you didn't have to suffer the humiliation from Rays fans were you?

BTW, nice calculations.

Calculate this:

2010 Season Wins/Total team salary.

Tell me who gets the biggest return.

I'm guessing most baseball fans are happy that the Rays are able to compete against money-spending Goliath.
