Actually it doesn't appear the weather was the factor. It seems that there was some sort of software bug that caused it. Outages were very widespread across the whole Tampa region but oddly enough there were some people that didn't have issues. Its all fixed now though and isnt expected to cause any more issues.

Seeing as to how this area hardly ever has power outages, or internet outages, or cable outages at all, it is almost a non-issue. Losing service for a couple hours once every year is not a big deal. The infrastructure seems to be set up pretty well so that everything stays running almost non-stop.

Exactly, that is why in addition to a cell phone have a land line through another carrier.

Another thing Brighthouse does sometimes is upgrades at say 2am, they assume everyone is in bed.

I wasn't. The internet and cable went out. I called and said to them how about putting a scroll on the bottom of the screen letting customers know you will be knocking out service. The rep said "oh that would be a good idea".

I also said by not advising your customers of your late night/early morning upgrades your opening yourself up to a lawsuit. Someone starts having chest pains in the middle of the night and they grab for the phone to call 911 and their Brighthouse phone is dead you have created a problem.

I would never bundle all 3 services with them.

Thanks bentlebee; that's great news! I heard this morning there were a million customers that lost service yesterday.

Good point. Though we did away with land line many years ago, having all your communications lines in one basket is a mistake. At least have a cell to back up the VOIP service. I wouldn't depend on any all in one communications service either.

haha...they always blame issues on a "Software bug" or "Computer" issue. What they are really saying is "Human Error".. I wonder if the person responsible called in sick today.....lol

I think "software glitch" is code for "we got hacked".
