Reports indicate a widespread outage in Bright House service... from Winter Haven south to Manatee County. DH said ours was completely out until around 1pm when the internet & phone service came back online.

This is a really strange outage. The internet stayed up for awhile after the cable went down (usually it is the other way around), then it was all down for awhile. Then the internet came back up (hi!) but the cable is still down at my location in south Tampa. When you try to call Brighthouse, apparently their customer service phones are down and some weird breathy male voice says "no routes found" before it shunts you to a busy signal.

I hate how everything is connected now. Our phone, internet, and TV were all down. It used to be if one was out, you were still connected to the world with the others.

It had to have something to do with the storms, I imagine.

That is exactly why I dropped phone service from Brighthouse - if it all goes out, you have no phone. What if you needed 911? So now we have joined the ranks of the mobile-only and when our other services drop at least I can still make calls and use the internet via smartphone.

I agree, we are so locked into these electronic services. I used to have a separate land line phone separate from my other services, but that doesn't seem to be available here in the Tampa area. I have to keep a cell phone with a data plan almost as a backup.

I have FiOS which has been rock solid, but I'm sure we are not immune either from a future outage when some road crew accidentally cuts a Fibre optic line.

We had a big power outage since 5AM until about 10, then later it was our BH.
Guess it had to do with the rains.

We had both our offices with no internet, tv's, phones, but had our VOIP forwarded by the provider to our cell phone. Horrible.
