Hi,
My husband and I are thinking of snowbirding to Fl. We are active athletes and teachers and would like to retire soon. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Certainly is, and there's a lot of snowbirds in the area, especially from Michigan, Ohio, and Ontario.

I love Dunedin. Be careful though, some areas are close to some pretty high crime areas (outside of Dunedin), so make sure you stay sufficiently north of Sunset Point Rd.

I agree with other poster, ensure you are in the right part of Dunedin.
Is this the only place you are looking. If you are over 55 there are some great places at good prices just now. Lakeview of Largo, walk to beach (1/2 mile ish) right by shops, on a bus line, wonderful safe area, high and dry, non evac zone, well managed and good for fixed incomes is one that comes to mind. I think you can get a l bed for around $70K and 2 for under $100k up

Dunedin is a great place for snowbirds/retirees, especially active ones. There are a few rougher areas around the Clearwater border, but nothing that should be of major concern.

Carlent, Scotland runs right behind Main street from the gulf in downtown Dunedin. The closer to the gulf the nicer the homes. Also close to the trail.

Carlent, Scotland is fine. The worst thing you might run into is noise from the Chick-a-boom Room occasionally, but they close up shop early enough it's not awful.

Chick-a-Boom's a club on Main St. Their clientele's fairly well-behaved. Old school Ybor it isn't-- though I'm not trying to imply they're all seventy-somethings drinking warm milk, either. But you're not likely to find drunks stumbling out and peeing in the bushes or anything. They're decent neighbors.
