Tom Thumb is the Second nicest Store in Dallas....Period.

Upscale grocery store means well kept and high class design.....like all of the Tom Thumb's in Dallas.......The Tom Thumb on Lovers and Greenville is the best location..along with the best Central Market directly across the street.

Currently in DFW, the nicest NON-gourmet store is Market Street.

I would like them more if their prices weren't sky prices like all stores under the Albertsons umbrella.

Which is the reason the whole grocery store debate was brought up in the first place...debating about which prices are better.

How it became a war of "Who's City Has The Best, Classiest, Best Maintained, and Most Expensive" grocery stores is beyond me.

Not all Tom Thumbs are high end. I've been to some pretty low-rent ones.

Exactly. I've been to plenty of Tom Thumbs in my lifetime and never once thought it was upscale unless it was in an affluent neighborhoods. Even non Central Market H-E-B's are like this depending on the area.

I thought that was kind of strange considering Albertson's and Tom Thumb were pretty much under the same umbrella and when I use to work at Albertson's many many moons again back in High School it was not what I would consider high-end or upscale. Nice store but high end?

Well that new Deep Ellum store is nice and I'm sure they've opened up some new ones in the city that are nice but I don't have great memories of old TT. The one I used to go to on occasion off of Mockingbird is very regular. They are/were just Randalls by another name.

I think TT’s older stores are more generic. That’s why I said Tom Thumb isn’t upscale (as a whole). I do agree that there are more upscale TT stores in Dallas around affluent areas. Tom Thumb’s new stores tend to be more upscale in design/product variety. I would compare it to Kroger’s Signature or Fresh Fare stores. Kroger itself isn’t upscale but they have stores that are a half step or a step above their regular stores.

The Tom Thumb store in the Meadow Central Shopping Center in Dallas is very dated/generic. But the store on Lovers is much more upscale feeling.

If that's what you meant to say, then fair enough and good for Houston. But it's not what you said originally.
