Why so Low? NADA Lists the Value much higher. What was wrong with the V6 engines?

Low Retail: $3200
Average Retail: $4675
High Retail: $6275

Had a friend who bought a 1990 Camry V6...... it went kaput 3 weeks later. But he did buy it with a knock coming from the engine. $3500 down the drain.

If it were a private seller that had a complete maintenance history on the vehicle i might be tempted in the $2K range but this seems to be a sidewalk dealer sale and you or the seller know nothing about the vehicles history, was it in a major wreck? is that nice paint job covering up a lot of rust? 90K seems very premature to be replacing head gaskets and radiators on a car as reliable as a Toyota which makes me wonder if its even the original engine, i'd take a walk on this one and look for a car being sold by a conscientious owner and not a dealer.

However, if this was a 91' Celica then it would be worth good dough. Love the 92 Celica GT fast back. Light and handles good too.

In theory, it will sell easily. The fact it is a 23+ yr old car....no air bags, no abs, cassette, etc etc.

I knew a few people with the v6....seemed like it didn't last as long as the I4....the v6 was known for head gasket issues and sometimes impacted the coolant too. V6 is a decent engine, the I4 is just far better. The Japanese makes back in the day made great I4 engines...as I noted, the miles I put in my old 1990....I seriously think it could of pushed well past 500k on the odo. I personally worked on the car & boy it was such an easy car to DIY.

I wouldn't buy *any* 24 year old car unless I were an expert on antique and classic car maintenance, or had access to such a expert and plenty of money to pay him. While Toyotas are great cars, age and metal fatigue affect all cars and the repair bills can be frightful.

^^^91 camry would hardly qualify as a classic or antique. Repair bill? As noted, one of the easiest DIY cars I've had

The dealer said he replaced one head gasket--why not the other one

I'd rather buy this car than any 7 year old Ford, Hyundai or Chrysler.

But my last and final offer is $3200.

Take it or leave it!

I had a 94 Camry wagon. It was the only car I could fit all my dogs in at one time. Neat little car. I could get about 8 or 9 hay bales inside if I put the back seat down. Also, if you have a single/twin air mattress it's like a little one person camper. btdt I've always loved the little back seat that faces back. It was a good little car. I put a crate engine in it cuz when I got it the guy had just put a junk yard engine in it that lasted about a month.
I sold it for $2K. I think that's a little high. We've had some good luck with used cars and we don't pay much more than a couple thousand for them.
