I think it is obvious that all of us can see the accelerator pedal problem is just another cover. The more Toyota tries to cover it up, the more obvious it becomes.
if its human error why is it other cars aren't runaways? oh i just had thought. The cause is a computer hacker that hates toyota cars and is hackin em going down the road ha ha
cars "run away" all the time, and it is local news
the reason this Toyota problem is "news" is becuase it involves a recall on a brand that worked it's way to the top making quality cars that people want to buy and those customers are shocked.
recalls happen for dangerous flaws frequently. it's life.
in short, dog bites man, not news -- man bites dog, news
FWIW, I own an 08 Toyota that was made and assembled in Japan. It wasn't recalled. I would not buy a Toyota made or assembled in the US, but that has nothing to do with throttle problems or run-away acceleration. We also own a Honda, made and assembled in Japan. So I'm no Toytota fanboy. I just have a problem with wildy distorted perceptions of risk, as in the case of this current recall.
I have all along have been trying to figure out how a stuck gas pedal can cause a vehicle to accelerate, what is causing car to run away?.I do not belive this is problem completely.
I don't know the specifics of toyotas ecm ,but my first thoughts was something in the computer was telling the throttle position sensor to act up.
A software problem is much easier and less time consuming to fix than a mechanical issue.
Regardless of cost, they need to fix the actual cause.
