Oh my! That would be some scenario! I'm wondering how far into the 20's we are. I can't tell by British history. When was the crash? 1929?

That "coming out" was a real big tadoo, wasn't it? It finally dawned on me that was William and Mary. The Duke of Wales was a real a-hole in that scene with Harold. Funny how an American would be his downfall in a few years. Karma, baby, karma.
The karma came after a seires of young British 'companions'. He was enjoying all the eye candy at the presentation.

Yes, 1929. And it triggered a worldwide depression. Cora's family may well be headed for a lot of pain.

At the beginning of the final episode there was a caption that said the year was 1923.

I think it is her hairstyle on the show. We are used to her with the pixie cuts and now with all that hair she has it just ages her, plus her makeup is a little too much. When women age they need to lay off the red lipstick, but it is the 1920s and red lipstick was the fashion.

That is a really pretty name Grandmama has, but I got to say that she is really the "mean girl" of Downton Abbey. She has a lot of sassy nastiness in her still, but she got her comeuppance delivered by Shirley last night.

Does anyone think that Thomas had a reduced presence on the show this season? All they gave him were scenes where he was torturing the maid for information and scaring her, plus making trouble for Tom. He is really one of the most interesting characters on the show and I think of him as a scene stealer. His character is so very complicated and very sympathetic at times. He is really a good guy underneath that shifty and plotting exterior. I hope he has a expanded role to play next year with a good storyline. I think he was wasted this season.

I've seen Shirley in recent interviews in NM and she's walking very carefully...but
she absolutely doesn't look this bad. Yes, this is all before the '29 crash.

Why Shirley and Violet? Pure entertainment...shows another generation...and from
2 cultures no less.

How about you meet a man twice and he wants to marry you!?

Lady Mary is in that new airplane movie with Liam Nieson, btw.
