I thought Jimmy took the amount the dude paid for the cigarettes, just so his dad wouldn't count the money and realize that he got back 8 of the $10 he just gave the guy. But that could lead to getting used to it....
Yes, you guys are over thinking the duck theory applies when it comes to Jimmy, so just give it up boys, he is what he is. Money in or out of draw the cartons of cigarettes would have had to have been accounted if the dad himself were keeping accurate records of the stores books.
Interesting tonight - you gotta love Jimmy, he just never, ever gives up, and he always encourages Kim. She is lucky, he treasures her and has tremendous respect for her (which she deserves).

Alot more setup than payoffs tonight.. Not that it was bad at all.
Jimmy is very protective of Kim. Apparently from the previews, his little trick on Chuck gets found out pretty quickly.. Did anyone else think that was Mike in the preview walking up to the Kinko's clerk that looked ready to crap his pants?
The Mike subplot.. I'm still a tad confused by this.. Ok, we know now that Mike's not going to let the threat against the granddaughter stand.. And I believe now more than ever, he is the cause of Salamanca's stroke. But what the hell is he building with the hose and spikes? It looks like some kind of torture device, but.. I don't think so.. Again.. Could be overthinking this.. But.. a DIY spike strip? Take out the tires on a vehicle?
How does the guy driving the truck tie into all this? Why did he get a gun just across the border?
Why did Mike act so surprised to see Salamanca show up at the market when he was getting ready to leave?

He can't risk getting caught with a gun by border agents, so he keeps his piece just inside the US border. He might also be a hitman who uses the delivery route as a cover to be able to freely travel across the border. Mike is probably the target. He might also be responsible for carrying the cash profits back to Mexico.
The granddaughter had said it was for the flowers? Like some sort of watering system? I actually believed that, but, yeah, it does look like something sinister that could be painful if used to whack someone.
Or it could be a testament to the loneliness of his life - standing in the kitchen late at night, watching tv, making a watering house. I think he is very lonely (not necessarily in a romantic sense, but just in general).
It's definitely not just for the garden. He washed all the fingerprints off, then put on gloves and shoved nails through the holes. If that's for his garden, he has some seriously mean gophers.

Lol! I suppose you are correct. Maybe I missed something, but why a torture device? Why not use a good ole' fashioned gun? Is he wanting to extrapolate info?
EDIT: okay, it is a caltrop....
