I found Kurt Sutter's blog and it has a lot of good info and updates on the show. The premier episode has been written and they start filming in 5 weeks. They are working on signing 4 new people for the show this season. He also confirmed that Half-Sack is dead.

I Can't wait for season 3 either. Sack is dead? Aw man that's sad. I was holding out hope he'd make it, but he did get stabbed pretty deep. Like I said earlier in the thread. As long as Jax gets Abel back and that ***** Stahl get's what's coming to her before the season's over, I'll be a happy man
