In my (limited) overseas travel experience, money changers are very hesitant to exchange US currency that isn't in good condition. Since Walt was dealing with some overseas distributors, it makes some sense that the money might be in good shape. Way overthinking this, but that's my take.

Walt's stash of money was laundered. First through the "Save Walt" website that his son set up and Saul set up and later through the car wash. They went into this into detail on several episodes over the course of the series.

But beyond that, Walt wasn't really getting paid from street dealers--he was getting paid first from Gus Fring(who would've had access to all the clean cash bills he needed) and later through other big time distributors(like Lydia and the German corporation).

I don't think that was the actual money from the Czechs. Only some of the meth was even going overseas, A lot of it, I think most, was staying in the US. Even in the last episode Badger and Skinny Pete said the blue meth was still out there in New Mexico. I figure the Czeks were probably just wiring the money and paying for parts that didn't exist or something like that.

Laundered money ends up in bank accounts. It doesn't end up in storage facilities. What was in the storage facility was waiting to be laundered. There was too much money to launder through the car wash. Car washes don't make that many millions of dollars. Skyler put the money in a storage facility because she didn't know what else to do with it.

This is a series that I completely missed, but I have heard such rave reviews about it. I'll have to get the DVD.

Even the great actor Anthony Hopkins was impressed.

You can find porkpie hats all over the web and in fine hatteries near you. If you pay more than $50 for them keep looking. These hats have been around for a very long time!!
