It's simply NEWS that he MIGHT recover for the final episode.
This is an update on his health, not an update on apprentice. Bret's health is NOT part of the drama of the show.
If I read a news paper article that says Bret died, would you consider that a spoiler? Or would you rather hear that Bret died a month later on the show?
Heck, even the show has well-wishes for Bret at the end of the episode.
If Bret died before the final show, an upisode show would have a rest-in-peace clip at the end of that episode---way before the final episode.
