Usually in March I get pissed because snow's are missing me to the "NORTH" so like interior and you guys would be getting it.. But this morning I'm watching it snow hard well to the SOUTH of me! LOL!!

Impressive Lows in Vermont this morning! Here's a few off each County from BTV. Wow! http://www.nws.noaa.gov/view/validProds.php?prod=PNS&node=KBTV

Staying firm in the 20s & teens across VT at 2pm. We're not alone in this cold guys. It's pretty widespread. It's only in the 30s down to the gulf coast.

Driving to work this a.m. Mark Breen of The Eye On The Sky noted an unofficial report of -30 in Morgan. So, yup, cold starts these days, tkln. It only supposed to get to about -5 here overnight, but NWS says -21 tomorrow overnight. Our woodpile is shrinking steadily.

I heard people couldnt find pellets for their stove then finally found a home depot that had them and fights broke out because there was a limit to how many 1 person can buy. Pallets sold in minutes.

Even folks running out of firewood are using unseasoned wood.

I stacked 5 cords and have 2 left now.

Here's a tied record low from yesterday. Daily records don't impress me much. Just means it hasn't been that cold "on that day". But if records go back far enough than it gets interesting because there's been a lot of days it could of been that cold.

1234 AM EST WED MAR 5 2014

...RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE SET AT MONTPELIER VT...

A RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE OF -16 DEGREES WAS SET AT KNAPP STATE
AIRPORT IN MONTPELIER VT YESTERDAY. THIS TIES THE OLD RECORD OF -16
SET IN 2003.

I could be totally way off base but I feel like this winter has been a lot colder, for longer, than normal....

There's a way to check or maybe BTV posted something. Not sure if I'll have time or strength to look into it. Probably not the most extreme but up there with many other colder years.

Using just NWS Climo sites since they are easiest to find and official, here's some snow totals so far this season...

Worcester, MA: 80.9"
Portland, ME: 78.8"
Concord, NH: 69.8"
Albany, NY: 65.2"
Burlington, VT: 59.8"
Boston, MA: 56.4"
Hartford, CT: 50.1"
Providence, RI: 42.2"

Mt Washington: 221.4"

And here's a graphic I made for other areas. Fun to see some spots have more than Denver and Alaska and North Dakota spots.

Wow, that's so funny! NYC has more than Fairbanks! That's crazy. Nice graphic, thank you for sharing!

39 degrees out this afternoon in Brattleboro, first time it's been above freezing in quite a while-
was really nice to be out in, esp. with the blue sky & sun (as it's been overcast a lot lately).

Woke up this morning to a cold house. Thought it was the furnace-AGAIN (just had it repaired in Jan-on the coldest day of the year naturally). The heating guy took one look at it and said we were out of oil. WHAT??!!!! We have autodelivery, we shouldn't be without. We called the oil company. They had to come and bleed the lines. Meanwhile, we had to reschedule an appointment and it will probably cost us more $$$$ for the house to warm up to our normal temp. I think the oil company should give us a discount or something but I'm sure they won't. IT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED!!!!

Yeah, it has been a colder than normal winter. Hopefully spring is around the corner.
