ORD's snowfall count now stands at 82.0" while MDW is at 87.8". All time greatest was 89.7" in the winter of 78/79 recorded at MDW (was the official station then).

It's currently 26F at ORD and 27F at MDW.

Is it going to be "one of those years" with lots of damaged crops? Lets hope farmers are ready and protect our food.
I believe this is in Alabama

Coastal moderation sucks . I was hoping for highs in the upper 30's tomorrow when they said well below normal.

Instead, we will see temperatures just 7.5 degrees below average:

Hi:51
Lo:28

Average high:60
Average Low:42

That isn't enough cold enough for a jacket, puhleazze weakies.

I would like to see it stay below 45 for 3 days straight.

It's mid April and plants are starting to come out. You should be happy that your moderation won't damage plant growth.

A look at the current 850mb temps. I wish those pinks were over here but its going to "swing" by just to the north. If the air mass dug deeper and those pinks (-10-20C) were over the coast that would mean 30s during the day.

Air mass is not that deep so the coast wont see 30s for highs. But still.. we don't see a trough dig down that far often in mid April so this is special to see.

Freezing line at 850mb will be down to the North Carolina coast tomorrow

Not so much about coastal moderation than the temps aloft. National Weather Service would of mentioned the coastal waters instead use the 850mb temps as the temp guide for the surface.

For NYC Metro & CT .

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
146 AM EDT TUE APR 15 2014

850 TEMPERATURES ON WEDNESDAY WILL RANGE FROM AROUND -8C INLAND...TO -3C TO -6C ACROSS LONG ISLAND. THIS SHOULD TRANSLATE INTO TEMPERATURES IN THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 40S FOR MUCH OF THE AREA...WITH LOWER 50S POSSIBLE ACROSS THE NYC METROAREA.
