Hampstead recorded a low of 5.6C in July 1965, which is the lowest I can find for there (I don't know about Heathrow). I'd imagine 2 or 3 C might have happened in the 1800s in what's now part of outer London pre-urbanisation, but it doesn't seem on the cards now.

No it is true. Portsmouth has a similar record low for July. Hayling Island (next to Portsmouth) has a record low of 7.8C in July & 7.2C in August, though June's is 2.2C...

I see that the record lows for the summer in the Northern Hemisphere are rather mild in relation to their latitude and type of climate.

Here in BA the highest record low is in January: 5.9 C (42.6 F); and the lowest record high is in June: 28.5 C (83.3 F).

In the south of Buenos Aires Province (at approx. 36°S of latitude) some places have the highest record lows at around freezing.

I was looking at the records from 1975 or something onwards. Lower temperatures almost certainly happened in the past, but now with the UHI anything below 10C in July-August is extremely rare. June can still have cool nights, though

Our highest record low is 5C in July.

Our lowest record high is 13C in February.

We have had temperatures below freezing in every month except July and August, and apparently snow has fallen in all months except those two.

I personally have seen snow in all months from September to May. I have never seen snow in this area in May, June, July and August.

Every month except December, January and February has seen temperatures above 20C.

The most freakishly extreme month when it comes to records is March, for which the record high is 27C and the record low is -31C. April and October can be pretty freaky as well but not quite so extreme.

I have swum in my backyard swimming pool in May, June, July, August, September and October. I've also come very close to swimming in April (May 1).

I've been cross-country skiing in November, December, January, February, March and April.

Frankfurt: 15.3 C Record High in January and 5.0 C Record Low in August.

What's the widest range anyone can find?

I have gathered all the data from this thread so far (well, I left some out, such as when someone mentioned places other than where they live or when the data provided wasn't so precise).

I took the city names from your Location item (at the top right corner of your info) where applicable. Otherwise, I put poster's name between brackets. The first two values are in degrees C and the other two in F.

PS: Excuse me if there is any mistake and you are free to correct it.
