Long Island didn't even escape a freeze, though some areas only got a frost. Minimum of 33°F this morning Farmingdale, 29°F Islip. Oops, missed Infamous92's post.
The 29F in Islip is 1F from the monthly record.
It is also the record for the earliest occurence of a sub-30F temperature. The previous record was Oct 30th, so it broke it by 11 days.
Probably earliest occurence of sub 30F? Will have to check...
Yup... October 30 was the earliest going under 30° at Islip in October. Beat that by almost 2 weeks! (Records only since 1984)

Yup, near record for the month.. In fact Bridgeports low of 30 was first time hitting 30 or colder since 1997. I hit 25.8°.
Danbury hit 21 and records back to 1998 shows that is the coldest October temp.
White Plains dropped to 27. Last time was 1988 getting that cold in October. So yeah, I was about right.. a decade+ depending where you were. Impressive.
El Nino signatures showing up on the 12ZGFS, or it could be the annual ramp up of the stormy season off the BC coast. Regardless, it is holding the colder air up to the north for awhile due to the zonal Pacific flow into most of the US. This has also created a blowtorch scenario for the Plains states with some areas not seeing a frost or freeze yet.
