Where's the -60°F in the Adirondacks from? Whiteface has a station? The -68°F in northern New Hampshire is obviously Mt. Washington. The -50°F in the Catskills must be a higher peak, too. Any idea what it is?

I believe Whiteface does have a station, not sure but I also believe they are going by the gridded model forecast which projects per lat/lon and just entering the text number onto the map of the projected values?
I could be wrong and all of those numbers represent stations which they normally do

Well the map numbers don't appear to be on a grid. I can't find a station for Whiteface on this map:
Never mind, I clicked on the link and found you can click on the point. They're not stations, but not random either. The -60°F appears to be the summit of Mt. Marcy. The -50°F in the Catskills appears to be in area of 3200-3500 foot summits, range isn't narrow enough to attach it to a particular mountain.
Right, forecast maps are not observations sites and they typically show actual stations but obviously models dont produce a result just for stations. In other words they produce results for every point on the map... So thats why its possible they just filled the in between with the value there?
I still think its lake placid. I havent been home thats why still not sure.
