Washington DC would be more like that.
We sit on the grass usually.

Americans are work, work.

As I said Battery park city, the west side highway and Central Park are the main areas.

A few streets in Manhattan have been converted into little plazas/sit-down areas, Times Square being the most famous example, a long stretch of Broadway was partially converted as well.

Manhattan could use more of these areas, it feels soulless and overwhelming at times, I can only take it in small doses.

Yeah, saw that. Red chairs and tables on Broadway.

But mostly it's like this: https://www.google.fi/maps/@40.75974...8i6656!6m1!1e1

Gives much a nicer wibe if you have these: https://www.google.fi/maps/@60.17112...8i6656!6m1!1e1

Obviously the sidewalks are more narrow and congested in NYC, but hey, that doesn't stop us:

It's extremely expensive. I've booked to go in June for one week and it's costing me £2,000 without currency.

You don't go there expecting to get a bargin.

About air quality it cannot be at least, as the AQI in NYC is a lot better than in both Helsinki and especially Turku.

The legal age to drink alcohol in Malta is 17 (though having sex & getting married is 18!) not that it makes much difference as most bars & clubs let anyone in. There was an accident at a club in Paceville (main clubbing area) recently where a balcony/staircase collapsed & many of the injured were aged 13 to 15! No wonder so many pi**ed up teens come here on holiday...

Southern European countries are very lax when it comes to drinking I've found.. but then these countries seem to have fewer problems with alcoholism, so it is probably a good thing!

I've been served in Italy when I was 14.. my friends went to Greece and Cyprus on party holidays when they were 15.. you don't get ID'd in most clubs at all there..
