There are some areas that are green, for example, Battery park city and Central park. They don't generally sit on benches though, it's a big city, they don't have time for that. Manhattan is also very small so there isn't that much room left for green areas anyway. Even New Jersey (near nyc) doesn't have that much green.
A few streets in Manhattan have been converted into little plazas/sit-down areas, Times Square being the most famous example, a long stretch of Broadway was partially converted as well.
Manhattan could use more of these areas, it feels soulless and overwhelming at times, I can only take it in small doses.

Yeah, saw that. Red chairs and tables on Broadway.
The legal age to drink alcohol in Malta is 17 (though having sex & getting married is 18!) not that it makes much difference as most bars & clubs let anyone in. There was an accident at a club in Paceville (main clubbing area) recently where a balcony/staircase collapsed & many of the injured were aged 13 to 15! No wonder so many pi**ed up teens come here on holiday...
Southern European countries are very lax when it comes to drinking I've found.. but then these countries seem to have fewer problems with alcoholism, so it is probably a good thing!
I've been served in Italy when I was 14.. my friends went to Greece and Cyprus on party holidays when they were 15.. you don't get ID'd in most clubs at all there..
