At least the flying ones are only in hot places like Florida. I've never seen one in North Carolina or Oklahoma.

It's weird, cos I love animals and I don't mind many insects or crawlies. I touch (and pet) snails, beetles, stinkbugs and the non-poisonous spider. But cockroaches are a no-go zone. They just look offensive and hideous to my eyes. They're like ugliness with legs. The American Cockroach is the worst. Yuck! I think that they fly?

I've seen one in Newberry, South Carolina that looked identical to the ones in Florida. Does North Carolina have a different kind?

Looks like SC is the northern limit of these. I think they prefer swampy areas, that's why Piedmont regions don't really have them I suppose. I don't remember seeing any when I lived in North GA. Maybe extreme southern NC like Wilmington would have them?


Surprised they could survive Canada though.
