The suburbs are great for raising a family, I just don't like the sprawl and loss of land. That's why I prefer suburbs become denser, less spread out, and manage land better. The city on the other hand is much better for young millennials looking to enjoy the social aspects and lifestyle of a busy city such as Chicago, NYC, Seattle, and Los Angeles. Suburbs are not a great place for anyone without a family imo.
Agreed. Unfortunately we're stuck with what we have though, so I think the suburbs as they are will grow in popularity again as the millennials begin to raise families.
At least here in Northern NJ, I am seeing a lot more condos and apartments being built as opposed to single family homes, so maybe things are headed in the right direction. Still heavily car dependent though...need more train service.

Same here. In southern PA the new thing seems to be that unless the house is a McMansion, most new homes are townhomes, and they are reasonably priced. I'd buy one, much more preferable to an expensive mortgage especially when Social Security probably won't be around for most of us on here
Marlins losing to the Phillies. Why do they always do poorly against **** teams (no offense, snj lol), yet we beat the Cubs three times in a four game series.

Yeah if I can ever afford to buy something, it would probably be a townhouse or condo. They have their negatives as well, but single family homes are absolute money pits. Add in the commute and the cost of a car and it just doesn't make sense financially.
Townhomes and rowhomes aren't really a part of our culture. We've experimented with them, but they don't sell too well. It's either centre city or immediate inner city flats or detached homes or Scandinavian rowhomes in the suburbs. The commieblock suburb flats, while cheap, are really hard to sell too. Exurb or rural detached houses are almost impossible to turn over if not near the Helsinki region.
I associate townhomes and duplexes with less than desirable areas down here. You see a couple in well off suburbs, but they normally quickly turn into a rental community and a lot of them become Section 8. I swear, like more than 75% of South FL is the hood.
at first I didn't know what the hell Ariete was talking about with the Germany axe joke.
But now I've heard... I see. More cultural enrichment.
hey that was all me, wtf man give credit where it's due
