Nothing embarrassing about it. You have little interest in subjectiveness related to climate, while I do have some interest -it's not a right/wrong thing.

There's no loss of face, or servings of humble pie, for either of us.

and that is a load of old nonsense as most folk on forums say the summers in NZ are a pile of crap . Glad we've got that sorted

You've missed the key point, which is how British immigrants (anecdotally) view the NZ summer compared to the British one.

I'm cool with folks going off on tangents, but they need to not get their wires crossed, when doing so.

It depends where you're talking about - my area is warmer than anywhere in the UK, and seas up north get 4C warmer than here. Coldest in NZ would be about 3C colder than the UK'S warmest (at a guess)

An exercise in British hyperbole for George:

UK Weather Forecast: Met Office Predicts A Heatwave Will Warm Up The Country This Week | HuffPost UK

Various quotes:

"Heatwave Will Warm Up The Country"

"hottest temperatures since September"

"a sizzling 27C"

"If we reach 26C (78.8F) then we will have the hottest day of the year so far"

I was comparing where i am to Christchurch /Wellington etc

the Sea looks very cold - the country looks cold - the summers are cold ,the nights look cold -- nothing between you and that huge block of ice in the south .

Do you ever get Icebergs ?

I reckon every Brit you ever spoke to hailed from Aberdeen

I know somebody from Blenheim, and he certainly let us know what he thought of our weather! From his perspective, where he was from was superior in summer, and certainly year round.
That's only his opinion though, so who knows.

Blenheim looks like their prize asset tbf - it does look pretty decent . An Australian climate almost i'd call that one - it still needs a warmer summer

Blenheim is one of the places in NZ that actually has warmer summer highs though (though their means are lower).

Back on topic - today should be the day.
