If you have proof it is wrong please share it. The biggest fallacies you are making, notice the plural, is trying to attack me personally to discredit the poll and refusing to believe the results despite not having any evidence against it while there is overwhelming evidence for it. It could be wrong is a fallacy in itself.

Also, your city of Huntington has won this dubious honor year after year.

Look if you are happy in Huntington that is fine and dandy, but most people arent.
You are reading the data wrong. Most people in Huntington MSA ARE reasonably happy - just not quite as happy as elsewhere - it's a tiny difference between the high and low - in fact, probably within the margin of error.

The data shows they are the most depressed and the most miserable. Nowhere does it say the majority are happy. If you have proof share it.

I am not doing your homework for you, Mr. Statistics - read the frigging study

I posted the above, but I now realize you won't understand, so let me spell it out. Charleston for instance scores 61 in "well-being" (which by the way is not happiness or miserableness), but anyway, I looked up Raleigh which is one of "best"scoring MSAs. It has a 70. Soooooooooooo, what that means is respondents in Charleston are just a little less happy than in Raleigh - about 9% less so, but they didn't score a 10 or a 20 - it's 61.

Again, no proof.

Guess what using that argument Charleston or Huntington could even be more depressed. I am not interested in dealing with assumptions but if you have proof please share it. If not the facts stand.

Good job. This is called data interpretation by the way.

I'm not trying to measure any happiness meter here, but it seems to me it depends on the relative scores, not the absolute ones. In other words, if 70 is considered a great score and 55 a horrible score, 60 is not a very good score and 67 is a very good one. The criteria for evaluation would be where within the 15 point matrix a particular score fell... not 100.

Assumptions? Hahaha! You obviously have no clue about how statistics work.

But this is a 10 point scale, so the gulag or concentration camp would be a 0 or 1. Afghanistan or No. Korea would be a 2. So you see, WV is really not all that "unhappy". It's just that some places are a little happier. Keep in mind the surveyors put a big emphasis on health, so if I smoke, don't eat veggies, don't exercise and don't see the doctor, but yet I am the happiest guy in the world, Gallup is going to say my sense of well being is horrible - see how that works??
