I live just a few miles from Mishicot, where this took place (actually, about 1/2 way between Mishicot and Larabee). Having followed this for a few years now, and watching the entire series, I failed to find anything new that came out about it. I was a bit surprised though to find out how fat our cops are.

Grew up in Wisconsin and moved to South Florida 20 years ago..
I'm now getting all kinds of questions from my friends who can't believe there's a "real" town in Wisconsin where people are "like that"

The hype hasn't affected me at all. Only heard of it in passing. Never read about it nor seen it, and don't plan to do so any time soon.

It seems like everywhere I go I am hearing someone discussing this documentary! So much so I had to watch it myself. I was in the airport in Florida and a group was chatting about it being the "craziest" story ever. If nothing else, it gives more publicity to WI!

As a part time WI resident, I can no longer sleep; I have nightmares and night sweats; I am severely depressed and have resorted to self mutilation (cutting myself). I no longer associate with anyone, including good friends...I would not dream of leaving the house; I hear voices and see things that are not there...or so I'm told; I can no longer think straight; I cannot eat, and usually feel nauseous. I have thoughts of suicide, I am just beyond myself over this documentary. The effects never go away, and I think I will have myself committed. This may be the most serious event to effect WI and the World in this century. Damn the Avery's and their Salvage Yard!

I've discovered that the people who think Avery is innocent and liberals are the same people.

Nice assumption. I'm a liberal & I think he's guilty. And who cares what political persuasion someone is regarding this topic?

Yep. Same here. I haven't seen any correlation between political persuasion and thought on the case amongst my friends, personally. I have been stunned, though, by how many people were so easily swayed by one documentary.
