No, I have always left on my own for a different job or to go back to school.

Home Depot? Costco?

You have to start small and, like others have said already, pay your dues in a way.

At your age I would try to get into the trades: plumbing, hvac, electrical, auto mechanic....anything. But you will have to work and you will have to maintain your employment with no gaps. People get suspicious about gaps.

At 22 you cannot have this line of thinking. You are the low man on the totem pole and you have to pay your dues, start @ the bottom and work your way up.

Being a college drop-out doesn't help either. Yes it is possible to get a job without a degree, but it is going to be harder. Trades are good for people without degrees and many of them pay well but again, you need to start @ the bottom.

When I was 21 I interned an entire summer FOR NO PAY. But I was able to get my name out there and that following May when I graduated, I had a job. At 22, I was making $28k. Now, 14 years later, I am more than quadruple that... but if you continue to have the mindset that you need your dream job and good pay, you are going to be unemployed for a long time.

Take any job that is offered to you. Build up your skillset. Volunteer. Intern. If you have to work for no money, do it because it will build your skillset and your resume in the long run.

You have to start small. Check your ego, put your pride aside. Hard work and time put in will be rewarded. It seldom gets handed to you on a silver platter.

What have you done to earn high pay at age 22 OP? This question should help you on your journey.

The reality here is we are all business owners and we are all self employed.

The only difference between a company and an employee is the employee has a customer base of one.

So you are self employed and want to do business with me. This is all fine and dandy but what do you have to offer me so that I can enhance my business? Crying in the corner about nobody will hire you is not one of them.

I also shoveled snow and cut grass, rode my bicycle 15 miles to load hay bales onto a flatbed for $15...for the DAY!...THIS is how you get experience.
All these kids today think they should start at 50k without anything to offer!

I don't feel sorry for the OP...22 and never had a job? What a slacker! @22 I was finishing up my first enlistment in the Marine Corps, married for three years and living on my own for four.
Yeah and you walked 5 miles to school uphill both ways in three feet of snow nine months out of the year. I've had a job since I was ten and have never gone more than two months without one. That doesn't mean everyone can just get a job. Maybe you and I had opportunities and the OP doesn't. The job market has changed. There's a surplus of labor. Employers can be ultra picky. There's stiff competition for jobs. I just got off the phone with my girlfriend who was damn near in tears because she can't get a job. Since in the past seven months she's probably put out over 30 applications and nothing. Lose the marine core mentality and come back to reality

I have been reading articles that more and more young Americans are leaving the USA for opportunities.

Yep, I agree, as for the marine corp. Cool, some people are cut out for the most brutal hard core service in our military (outside of special forces). As for the air force which is less hard charging, their standards are probably worse than civilian employers.

The military is not a job training program, nor an employer of last resort. They have no use for someone who's kicking their toes in the dirt moaning about how life isn't treating them well. The military wants driven, capable people who can perform under pressure. OP isn't that, it seems.
