Gotta do what you gotta do until you find something. Your life won't be glamorous during the job hunt, but you're just trying to make ends meet until you can get your professional life on track.

But that's where the jobs are ...right?

The question is in matching up which metro for which jobs YOU are qualified for.
If you've got that skill and you know it's needed there... it'll happen for most.

That can certainly happen if you aren't prepared.

Too many commenters imply they intend to live on savings until they find that 'good' job.
They aren't likely to succeed.

Told me to reach out to them when I'd arrived. By then, the job was already filled.

I'm finding this to be the case in two other cities I'm applying. I've only heard from one company and they don't want to talk to me after hearing I'm not yet a resident.

How the heck is someone supposed to secure a position in a new city prior to moving? This has only worked for me once, as stated above.

Any suggestions? Besides a corporate transfer, how did you do it?!!
Hi, put on your Resume that you are willing to move within a month or two of job offer. I got an offer at NYU Medical like that (I live in Seattle now) but I didn't take it because of the money they offered. In the meantime I am getting a lot of phone calls and interviews. You have to be clear and honest on your Resume. And no I am not a nurse or doctor I am the person who does the authorizations/and referrals.
