Interesting. Guess it's only those that visit and moved here that understood. The USA is the only country with America in it's name so it seems to most that America implies the US. This is good news though, next time someone talks about "stupid Americans" I'll just reply, "yeah those damn Canadians are something else in America aren't they?"
LOL. Well if you did say that I wouldn't disagree since I know many " stupid Canadians "
I'm new to this thread, and haven't read through all the pages, but I'm not sure if the question posed in the title (not the poll) has been answered. The most obvious reason why the US has the most "fame, celebrities, billionaires and movies" is the size. The US is, by far, the largest country in the developed world, which results in a higher probability for a celebrity to be American. With a population of more than 300 million, the US is more than twice the size of the next developed country (Japan, with 130m) and almost four times the size of the third most populated developed nation (Germany, with around 80m people). (On a side note, this is also a big reason why the US and China top the Olympics medals tally; compare the Olympics table with the medals per capita table and you'll see a HUGE difference)
It doesn't hurt that English is the most widely spoken language in the world, which is why English-speaking celebrities are the most popular. The UK, whose population is around a fifth of America's, can be argued to have around a fifth of the number of celebrities from the US.
A high core population of celebrities/entertainers also leads to a synergistic effect resulting in attracting celebrities from other countries.
