Im helping you by giving you a legitimate reason to call me arrogant. (even though I guess it is an easy to mistake that Northern Ireland is in Ireland).

The United States may have wealth, but that's about all it has as far as human development goes. (Considering the wealth disparity, that isn't much to brag about, either.) I would put it in the same category as countries like Singapore, the UAE and Brunei. Not a desireable place to live, in my book.

With what red flag and prospective signs we have in situ at this present time, I wouldn't rank it above 8th or so in these lists, and I suspect it will struggle to be in the top 10 by the next decade.
Actually if you look at trends you will seem our unemployment rate going down, actually by the next decade are America will be in a lot better place then it is in now, our housing boom, are cities downtowns are booming at the moment too, I believe America is currently trying to start a high speed rail to connect its cities. I also heard that are oil is really starting to payoff as we are now the largest producers in oil surpassing Russia and soon to surpass Russia in gas too. Many companies are moving back to the states right now from china and India, I just read a major Indian company will be building its headquarters in America(Cincinnati) soon. Yes we have a lot of debt but its starting to payoff. Canada and Australia are also doing much better than 2 years ago! But the UK isn't getting much better...

True, but its where you ranked Ireland, I men your entitled to your own opinion I am just wondering why you ranked it so high? And having your own house eve if you don't have a job shows that the country is doing good financially. That unemployment...its 13.6% but it is starting to go down! Which is good news

Ireland is ranked no 7 on the official list. It usually makes the list of the Top 10 developed countries and they measure all the countries by the same criteria so it must be doing something right.
