Not including American style fast food like McDonald's...

As you can see, Asian food dominates...

I am not even going to count Italian because it so mainstream now, but other than that... Lebanese, Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese would be the most popular in that order.

How did Lebanese become so popular over there? Wish we had more of them instead of the thousand mediocre Turkish take away places.

They are the largest immigrant group in the city and have been established here for quite some time.

In Sydney at the moment. The foods that are considered hip at the moment. Mexican is all the rage at the moment and has certainly over taken Thai. Has not traditionally been a type of food common here.

Oh yeah, I forgot Mexican, which is very mainstream as well here. Though Americans would likely say it's not authentic or good Mexican.

In NYC, I would say Chinese and Italian. But one can get food from most cuisines around the world in NYC if one knows where to look for them.
