I am not even going to count Italian because it so mainstream now, but other than that... Lebanese, Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese would be the most popular in that order.

How did Lebanese become so popular over there? Wish we had more of them instead of the thousand mediocre Turkish take away places.
In Sydney at the moment. The foods that are considered hip at the moment. Mexican is all the rage at the moment and has certainly over taken Thai. Has not traditionally been a type of food common here.

In NYC, I would say Chinese and Italian. But one can get food from most cuisines around the world in NYC if one knows where to look for them.
