OK here are a few more shots from around my parents' place and mine.

Here's our family vacation cottage (on the old family homestead in Arkansas) on a very cold, frosty morning earlier this year:

Here are some storms moving in - the view from my parents' back porch up in the Ouachita Mountains in Arkansas:

One of my granddaughters playing outside in the barn on the Arkansas farm. This barn is about 100 years old. I wonder if I've already posted these - LOL:

The family homestead in Arkansas - this house was built in the 1880s:

The vacation cabin in the summer - this is a style called a "dogtrot" because it has a wide, open porch running down the middle of it. This porch is made slightly more narrow at one end, so there is a steady and cool breeze through it all summer long. We go up there about once a month for a weekend or so.

These next few photos are taken in New Orleans. I was born there and we have family down there.

Tugboats on the Mississippi.

This is a random street parade - these crop up all the time in New Orleans. Often people just join in and the parade gets bigger and bigger.

The Natchez river boat:

The wheel on the Natchez:

This is the first house I ever lived in. This little shot gun house is now worth about $250,000 at least in New Orleans. My parents wish they'd held onto it!

Would your friend in Largs be the ones who won the Euromillions? They donated a LOT of money when the Waverley was in danger of going broke.
That might explain why I haven't heard from him for a while!

BBC News - Waverley steamer kept sailing by Euromillions winner

Hey, if they are friends of yours ask them for money. And while you're at it tell them you have a dear friend in Argyll who could use some extra travel cash so they don't have to fly in cattle class.

Making sure my state health insurance was renewed. I view my first job as to stay alive; any "occupation" is a second job.

I've thought about volunteering here before.

I noticed this food stand. I decided to be nice and stop for a brat.

Road construction is endemic during the summer in Duluth. Here's work being done on my old bike route between my house and the store.
