Tough call, but I suppose I would go with Lhasa, for it's rich buddhist culture, and better food.

Quito, Ecuador or Colombo, Sri Lanka?

Quito. Too much proselytization going on in Sri Lanka, it got very tiresome, even though it is subtle.

Minneapolis, Minnesota, or Almaty, Kazakhstan

Minneapolis, Minnesota because I much rather live in America than Kazakhstan. It offers much better opportunities.

PyeongChang: South Korea or Beijing: China.

Beijing, China. More culture, history, & job opportunities, just a more interesting city overall.

Budapest, Hungary or Warsaw, Poland?

Budapest. An old city. Almost everything is austere post-war construction.

Maui, Hawaii, or Bermuda

Maui... better scenery and less prone to hurricanes.

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea vs. Conakry, Guinea

Numbi. I've been in nearby Bukavu, and the lake country there is beautiful, but Numbi looks like its been strip mined of otherwise denuded. Mondop looks like it only has a couple of houses, and New Guinea has never had a fascination for me, like Africa. So I'll take Numbi.

Mecca, California, or Cairo, Illinois.

Mecca, CA for the better weather.
