Inspired by 9-11

Our past,

Our present

Our lives,

Our family,

Our world as we know it.

Can be changed in a moment,

The innocent oblivious that their lives are seconds from being spent

The unsuspecting unaware of the unfolding event

Families destroyed in moments, vulnerability we are forced to admit.

Tragedy push’s us all to our extent

Human spirit pushed to the limit

But it survives…

And courage we didn’t know we had

Thrives…

These are the times Americas back bones arises

Forced to stand and fight, forced to defy

Like a giant phoenix arising from the ashes

Men and Women pulled together to help heal gashes

Race, sex, nor ethnic mattered

For the first time in a long time prejudice scattered

For once everyone had some thing in common, our hearts was shattered

And the world we felt safe in was tattered.

We must never forget the men and woman in the military

The days we live in now are unsure and scary,

But it is the sacrifices they make so that we can go on so merrily.

Paramedics, rescue workers and volunteers

Who come before, during and after a hurricane, a tornado or a flood.

To the ones who have sacrificed their own blood

They are the ones who come when strangers call in urgency

It is you we all count on in an emergency.

In the blink of a eye

Someone will live

Someone will die

Someone will be given a chance to retry

Wisdom and clarity will give them a new high

Some days we laugh, some days we cry.

Sometimes we scream and don’t know why.

We should remember to thank all heroes’ whose praises goes unsung.

To the everyday people, the old the young

You are the ones that get things done

One second in time it all begun.

Our Past, Our Present

between life and linen

poetry,
written between
life and linen.
nature holds the pen
which pollinates
upon the wires of the page,
the connection of these two.

the jerking strings
of life.
the cool smoothness
of linen.
couple to make a poem,
of the unpoemness.
life and linen.

where then lies the poetry
between
life and linen?
within life itself.

for upon the coolness
of linen,
life is conceived.
and life is born.

within the cocoon
of linen,
life is wrapped
and held and loved.

then in final slumber
life once more is lain
enfolded in linen's coolness.

and dressed in white linen
prepares to meet
it's God.

Trust

Only out of unconditional love, can trust be born.
Without that reliance, a lost love we shall mourn.
Hopes and expectations are lost without it's presence,
faith and fidelity a part of it's essence.
We yearn to be worthy of this powerful emotion,
made complete by dependence, desire and devotion.
We give it and receive it, like a gift in kind ~
it's bounty to our being is purely peace of mind.

Mamagator, Alaskarain, very good!

songs to aging children sung,
aging children i am one (joni mitchell)
on obediance and trust

when god tells me to love unconditionally, i do it.
when god tells me to give unconditionally, i do it.
when god commands me to trust another human being unconditionally,
jump off the bridge now!!!
i still do it, but now i slip on a bungie cord just b4.

I agree, some wonderful talent here!

To handle others, use your heart.

if he betrays you twice, it's your fault.

He who loses a friend, loses more;
He who loses faith, loses all.

Learn from the mistakes of others.
You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

The tongue weighs practically nothing,
But so few people can hold it.

great poems everyone!!!
I was watching Jeopardy one evening and there was a question (or answer) stating that Shakespeare had once called dreams, Children of an idle brain. And that stuck with me until I had to write a poem about Dreams. So here it is.

dreams

children of an idle brain
behind darkened spheres
play their games.

sometimes laughter...
teasing.

sometimes terror...
taunting.

the captain wrestles with the helm,
as the vessel balances on the edge-

of reality.

control...control.
must gain control.

a lightening bolt
from deep within
frightens the children,
they run away.

control regained..

for now.

until the darkness once again
allows the children out to play.
