Well, this is not a phrase, but I hate the word "gal". I just have a visceral response to it and people who use it. Maybe it's the whole affected folksiness of it. Maybe it's because the word "gal" is almost always used to refer to a woman who is too old to be called "girl".

That one is so asinine. Cool beans are what you eat in an underdeveloped country's prison system when you get busted for drugs. Not something I associate with positive outcomes.

All rhyming slang that carries no actual meaning beyond being a cutesy rhyme. "I'm the boss, applesauce." Yeah, well, your show's a dud, baked spud. Great if you're five years old; beyond that, *barf*.
