Maybe not the most annoying, but based on it's increased use on city-data, i am getting increasing annoyed by the phrase "gay-friendly".

as the waitress/waiter approaches ... "How are we doing?"

Well, I'm doing just fine. I don't know how you are doing.

and, HR. HR? Human Resources? What other resources do we have to complete the task at hand?

It's Personnel, always has been Personnel. Yuppies ... gee.

Oh dear god, if one more waiter/waitress comes over and asks "How's everything tasting tonight ?" - I may have to punch them.

I actually want to reply "Well, any lifeforms that experience taste and flavour are probably utilising their olfactory senses to do so"

Please, just ask me "Are you enjoying your meal?" That makes so much more sense.

But I know 90% of them are just following some BS script and that none of them care anyway

PS: I always tip well

In my opinion, working in a restaurant should be a form of National Service - I certainly learnt a lot about the "dining species" when I did it

When the waiter says, "If you want anything, my name is {X}", the immediate response in every computer programmer's mind is, "What will your name be if we don't want anything?"

Everytime I go to the store, the checkout clerk askes me "Did you find everything you needed today?". One particular store I go to is always understocked or out of things I want, or worse yet, quits carrying brands I like. Any attempts on my part to provide meaningful feedback when that question is asked is met with a completely blank stare. They are supposed to ask the question but they apparently haven't been trained for a negative response. Don't ask me if you don't really want to know the answer!

OK, since we're mentioning things, my pet peeve is "due to" as in "due to events beyond our control"............ Well... Boats, Trains, Planes are due to arrive as a set time, or, are due to leave at a specific time, things happen BECAUSE OF other events, not "due to"
