Mirth.

It does not seem like a happy word to me.

Whenever I see it I just think: mire + filth. (Therefore, unpleasant.)

My personal choice is "irregardless", regardless of how they seem to justify their usage.

Default "Yup"

When I hear the word "yup" it turns me off from continuing to converse or develop a relationship with the person using it. It seems to imply, overconfidence and disrespect to the person asking a question. I prefer the word, "yes".

I do not like the word "basically" when it is used at the beginning of a sentence. That may have something to do with the implication that I wouldn't understand you unless you broke your statement down to simple terms. (In such case, the problem is actually yours, not mine!)

Default Umm

Umm.

When someone starts talking by saying "umm..." and thinks you will stick around with bated breath for another minute before they choose their second word.

Facetious. I don't know why, but I just don't like when people use that word.

I don't know if this is off topic, but I really really dislike getting texts that say wat or wut instead of what.

whatev gets under my skin too.
