Reminds me of the time I used the expression, "toe the line" when having a discussion with a coworker. She corrected me, saying, "It's HOLD the line." And then she rolled her eyes at me.

Was she a cyclists? In cycling, the phrase is "Hold your line."
Or was she a receptionist? "Hold the line, please..."
