Description: Until the government in this country lifts the silly ban on travel to Cuba, most of us can only dream of enjoying a bite to eat in an authentic Havana restaurant. In the meantime, however, diners in Louisville have found a couple of good Cuban places where they can imagine. One of them is Havana Rumba, which shares the same business strip as Del Frisco’s, and is not too far away from Equus. The interior successfully creates a sunny tropical feel with cool tile and walls painted hues of deep red and bright yellow; bright paintings of Cuban life and assorted bric-a-brac adorn the walls. Custom-made tables featuring wooden tops laminated with Cuban cigar-box covers and seating on imported leather-and-wood taburetes round out the authentic feel. By the time the menu arrives, you’re all set to enjoy a real taste of Havana. The selection is extensive, and popular main courses are the roast pork known as lechon asado, the shredded skirt steak dish known as ropa vieja, and the deep-fried chunks of marinated pork known as masas de puerco.
