Description: Nicholas Mastoras, a Greek immigrant from the small island of Othoni, started this Old Louisville culinary landmark in 1939. Directly adjacent to the campus of the University of Louisville, Masterson’s started off as a small drive-in restaurant known as the “Little Mansion.” It was expanded and renamed several times, and in 1972 it became known as “Masterson’s Food & Drink.” It has grown from that small diner to a full-service restaurant with 42,000 square feet of space, with room for 1,500. Aside from a wide variety of typical American restaurant selections, Masterson’s is popular for the $15 Sunday brunch, which goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to a salad bar and made-to-order omelet station, patrons will find carved roast beef, fried chicken, fish, and an assortment of breads, sides, and vegetables.
