Description: The leading male lineage society in this country, the Sons of the American Revolution is an organization that perpetuates the ideals of the war for independence. Each member has traced his family tree back to a point where an ancestor supported the cause of American Independence during the period from 1774 to 1783. It is a nonprofit historical, educational, and patriotic corporation that strives to maintain and expand the values of patriotism and American citizenship, as well as increase respect for national symbols. The Society is headquartered on Fourth Street in Old Louisville, and their offices feature several galleries with original art and reproductions that commemorate important individuals and events associated with the Revolutionary War. Artifacts such as uniforms, flags, and documents are on display as well. Visitation is free.
