Description: Located on the University of Louisville’s main Belknap campus, the Rauch Planetarium allows you to tour the universe without ever leaving Louisville. Schoolchildren and adults alike enjoy informative shows on the planets, stellar constellations, and other astronomical wonders. A popular demonstration involves the “Skies over Louisville” and reflects the seasonal changes to show what stars and planets are currently floating in the night skies above the Derby City. A hit with amateur astronomers, these sessions permit audience members to ask questions and participate. Apart from standard astronomical fare, the Rauch Planetarium also presents a spectacular nighttime laser light show with a monthly audiovisual experience that pairs pop songs in surround sound with lovely patterns and colors on the dome. Public hours are Friday from 8 p.m. to midnight, and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. General admission for planetarium programs and laser concerts is $7 for adults ages 13 to 60, and $5 for seniors and children under 13.
