Description: This not-for-profit theater is located on the Long Wharf in Sag Harbor and is known for presenting classic and contemporary works. Between late May and the end of Aug, the theater typically presents at least four different shows. This venue is also home to Kidstreet, which offers programming for children, as well as the Comedy Club, which is where you can see top stand-up comics perform.

Description: This museum features more than 40 permanent exhibits, a variety of temporary exhibitions (in five separate, massive exhibit halls), and an IMAX theater. It’s known among young people in particular for its spectacular dinosaur exhibit. Kids will also enjoy the Butterfly Conservatory, a seasonal exhibit that features more than 500 colorful, live butterflies. The new Journey to the Stars space show is narrated by Whoopi Goldberg and takes viewers 13 billion years into the past, when the first stars were formed. Adults will appreciate the New Diamonds exhibit, which showcases 25 breathtaking diamonds within the museum’s Hall of Gems. Visitors can easily spend at least a full day (or much more) exploring this unique and popular museum located in the heart of Manhattan.

Description: This is the home of one of the world’s finest collections of modern and contemporary art. The museum’s building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1959. It’s now a New York City landmark. Special exhibits are held throughout the year. Also in the museum is the Guggenheim Cafe, an excellent choice for breakfast, lunch, or a light dinner, and the Guggenheim Store, which features limited-edition items, plus a wide range of more affordable souvenirs. 34. Metropolitan Museum Of Art (The Met)

Description: The Met is known for many of its exhibits, including its collection of Impressionist art. There are also new Greek and Roman galleries that take you back some 5,000 years. Description: Visiting the Statue of Liberty and/or Ellis Island is at least a half-day activity. Both offer museum exhibits and the chance to visit and explore these historic landmarks. A variety of ferries and boats offer transportation to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, both of which are open to the public but only if you sign up for a tour. Tours must be booked in advance, and they are free. There is a charge for ferry service, however.
