I have had two very conflicting experiences at T.S. McHugh's. Once I came and asked for a clean protein with veggies. I got a sautéed piece of sole with steamed vegetable and the quality was wonderful. The server was very good at listening and relaying to the kitchen's my desires.
The most recent visit, I ordered the clam chowder. It did not come hot - rather lukewarm, the milk has soured and clotted. My first soupful was dreadful, with notaste of anything good. I did dig to see if there was a clam - thinking maybe I'd gotten the wrong soup. I did try one clam and it was tough and chewy. My impression was either the soup not being held at the right temperature or frozen and reheated. I sent and back and was told they had dumped the batch and remake. I always have to question a kitchen that is not watching temperatures and quality. So sad that they blew my trust after such a good experience before.
Side note, the window sills and wood work could use a cleaning. Hope they pull it together, as there is a history of previous food inspection violations. Time to clean the kitchen, front of house and examine food safety standards in the kitchen.
Love the warning here about defamatory statements. How about the risk of my low immunity going out into a restaurant? I ordered hot soup that night for a reason. What's against the rules, is serving unsafe food.
