  • Critical: Backflow prevention
    Comment:
AN AIR GAP OF AT LEAST 1 INCH WAS OBSERVED BETWEEN THE ENDS OF THE DRAIN LINES (FROM THE DRIVE THRU BEVERAGE DRAIN TRAY AND ICE BIN), AND THE RIMS OF THE DRAIN CUPS BELOW. THE AIR GAP WAS CREATED BY CLAMPING EACH DRAIN CUP TO A METAL BRACKET WITH SCREWS. THE METAL BRACKETS WERE IN TURN ANCHORED TO THE CONCRETE FLOOR WITH SCREWS. THE RESULTING ASSEMBLY WAS SECURE AND RESISTANT TO EXTERNAL FORCE. THE VIOLATION IS NOW CONSIDERED CORRECTED.
    General violation description:
5-402.11 - (A) Except as specified in (B) and (C) of this section, a direct connection may not exist between the SEWAGE system and a drain originating from EQUIPMENT in which FOOD, portable EQUIPMENT, or UTENSILS are placed. • Critical: Backflow prevention
    Comment:
AN AIR GAP OF AT LEAST 1 INCH WAS OBSERVED BETWEEN THE END OF THE DRAIN LINE (FROM THE DRIVE THRU BEVERAGE DRAIN TRAY), AND THE RIM OF THE FLOOR DRAIN/FLOOR CUP BELOW. THE FLOOR CUP WAS ATTACHED TO A CENTRAL PIPE THAT APPARENTLY DISCHARGES TO A DRAIN BELOW THE UNIT. THE AIR GAP WAS CREATED BY REPOSITIONING THE CENTRAL PIPE SUCH THAT THE FLOOR CUP WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 INCH BELOW THE DRAIN LINE OF THE BEVERAGE DRAIN TRAY. THE CENTRAL PIPE, HOWEVER WAS OBSERVED ATTACHED TO AN UNSECURED WOOD BLOCK THAT WAS NOT RESISTANT TO EXTERNAL FORCE AND COULD ALLOW THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY TO MOVE FREELY OUT OF POSITION. THE MEANS USED TO CREATE AN AIR GAP MUST RESULT IN A PERMANENT FIX. PERMANENTLY SECURE THE DRAIN ASSEMBLY ABOVE TO ENSURE THAT THE DRAIN CUP(S) WILL REMAIN PERMANENTLY ALIGNED WITH THE BEVERAGE/ ICE BIN DRAIN LINES AND WILL RESIST EXTERNAL FORCE. A SECOND FOLLOW UP INSPECTION WILL BE CONDUCTED WITHIN 10 DAYS TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE. PLEASE COMPLETE THE RISK CONTROL PLAN PROVIDED BY THE TIME OF THE RE-VISIT INSPECTION. COMMENTS: IF A WOOD BLOCK IS USED TO SECURE THE DRAIN ASSEMBLY, IT WOULD HAVE TO BE PERMANENTLY FASTENED TO THE FLOOR OR FIXTURE FRAME. IN ADDITION, A POROUS MATERIAL SUCH AS A WOOD BLOCK SHOULD BE FINISHED WITH A VARNISH OR PAINT SO THAT IT WILL BE SMOOTH AND EASILY CLEANABLE. ,
